Verdict - Must Eat This

Indian Accent is the restaurant by coveted celebrity chef - Manish Mehrotra. This restaurant in New Delhi has brought quite number of accolades to contemporary Indian food. This is the only restaurant from India on the World’s 100 Best list since 2015 and being awarded the Best Restaurant in India by Asia’s 50 Best for last 4 years. Recently, it got its presence in New York in 2016 and in London in 2017. So we had to visit this place some day and what could be better than the occasion of our wedding anniversary.

We chose their 3 course menu (vegetarian) and thoroughly enjoyed it. The epic food journey started with cute little Blue Cheese Naan for the starters.

Then we got our hands on 'Chowpatty in a bowl'. This had a bed of tangy and spicy bhaji with a small crispy bowl with delicious chaat in it. On top sits, the cute and crispy tempered Ricotta Vada. Accompanying the dish were tiny pao smeared in kafir lime butter poked in skews. The dish had a burst of flavors while balancing the ethnicity of street Pao Bhaji.

To neutralize the taste buds for the next dish, we were served little anar and churan kulfi sorbet. What made it more beautiful were the small cookers in which they were served.

Next there was Rajasthani ker sangri flavored paneer in smoked papad ki curry. There were paneer discs with layers of scrambled paneer in the flavor of rajasthani local ker sangri. The preparation was poured with a smoked papad ki curry preparation which had a strong earthy smoked flavor. The curry was enjoyed with naan and tandoori roti.

It was time for desserts. From the options we chose - Badam Halwa pie. This pie had a base of desi badam halwa with a mixture of almond flakes in honey and caramelised berries. The halwa was too good in taste and texture. The pie was served with a side of fresh cranberries and cheeni malai ice cream.

Then came the hero from the streets of old Delhi - Daulat ki Chaat. This might sound like another savory snack to you but this is a magical dessert authentically from Delhi. Hold your hearts steady, this is made from the foam of milk and cream and topped with nuts. Daulat ki chaat felt so uniquely light yet the flavors were in abundance. Raspberry aloo chips and vanilla bean icecream was served to complement this.

To complete the Indian fine dining experience - we got Rewari and Aam Papad on a cute little cot or charpai to remind us of our childhood.

The whole meal was satisfying and amazingly fulfilling. All the recipes were uniquely twisted yet had that authentic Indian flavors. Kudos to the chef and his team for giving us this memorable experience. What else to say - Must Eat This.
